Have you ever wondered how bees make that delicious, golden, oozy spread that you eat on your toast? If you want to know more you can read this explanation!
When it’s time to make more honey the female worker bees go flying and look for some flowers for nectar. It sometimes takes hours to find the right flowers to make the perfect honey. If a bee finds very good flowers they go back to the hive and dance to tell the other bees where to find some. They suck up the nectar using their tongues called a proboscis. Once all the worker bees find enough nectar they fly back to the hive to start the process.
They start the process by vomiting, regurgitating or spit out the fresh nectar into the younger hive bees. In each of their bodies they have a special stomach that they store the nectar in and it is called a crop that has enzymes in it. In their crop they release two special enzymes called fructose and glucose. They keep doing this until the honey is ready.
Once all the bees make the honey thicker they transfer or store the fresh honey into the honeycombs and they flap their wings really fast so they can dry or evaporate the liquid from the honey to make it more better. They finally seal the honeycomb with more wax and when they can’t find more flowers they already have honey stored in the honeycomb.
That was the process of how the hard working worker bees,foraging bees and the younger bees make sweet golden honey.
